COURSE DESCRIPTION
How did art begin? Explore the roots of Western art from the prehistoric cave paintings of the hunter gatherers of 30,000 years ago. Discover the earliest writing in the Mesopotamian Valley and the hieroglyphics of Egypt. Did art and music precede language? How does art reflect the great myths in Crete's Minotaur's labyrinth and in the heroic culture of classical Greece. The search for beauty and reality began here, you decide if time determines art.

COURSE LEADER
Wendy Worth is an art historian and has an MA in conservation biology.
