COURSE DESCRIPTION
The course will examine the Obama years, and more generally the decade following 2008. We will analyze Obama's election as President, the financial crisis of 2008–2009, the passage of Obamacare, Obama's struggle to define a foreign policy, the rise of Newt Gingrich and the disastrous mid-term election of 2010, Obama's reelection in 2012 and the emergence of Trump Republicanism in 2016. The course will feature videos of contemporary events, and each class will conclude with an open discussion period.

COURSE LEADER
Stan Katz is a former professor of public policy at Princeton University, and former head of the American Council of Learned Societies. He is a scholar of legal history, constitutional law, and philanthropy.
