COURSE DESCRIPTION
Together, we will explore five individual true-life events captured in the annals of maritime history. From the wreck of the whaleship Essex in 1820 to the loss of the swordfish boat, Andrea Gale in 1991, we will read first-hand accounts, study historical records, look at news coverage, and watch Hollywood depictions of these actual events. Over the course of six weeks, we'll dig into these gripping and heart-wrenching events.
