Phillip Carchman will discuss the "Shadow Docket" which is a reference to emergency cases that appear on the United States Supreme Court docket. What it is; how it fits in Supreme Court practice; how it is presently being used and why some justices such as Justice Kavanaugh and Justice Alito assert that the label is pejorative and misleading are the subject of this lecture. But the most important question to be addressed? Why should you care? This lecture will provide the answer!
