DESCRIPTION
This informative, fun, and therapeutic series combines lectures in art history on varying artists like Georgia O'Keeffe and Antoni Gaudi with your very own art project based on their work. Join us for one or as many sessions as you would like throughout this incredible series and experience the history of art through hands-on learning.
REGISTRATION INFORMATION
Participants may register for individual sessions at $10 each or ALL of our workshop sessions for a discount of $50 for the full series.
- To register for all six sessions, complete the registration process by selecting the ticket option "Register me for the full series - IN-PERSON". Once you have selected this option, you can scroll past the individual program dropdown options to the payment portion. Please do NOT register for each individual program through the dropdown section as you will be charged twice.
- To register for individual sessions, select the ticket option: "I'll select individual sessions from the list below." and then proceded to selecting which of the sessions you would like to register for. You will need to sign up for each one individually.
WEEKLY SESSIONS
July 16th at 1:30pm | Georgia O'Keeffe - "The Mother of American Modernism"
Using oil pastels, we will draw our own large flower and learn the techniques to layer and blend pastels.
Approximate length 1-1/4 hours
July 23rd at 1:30 pm | Antoni Gaudi - Catalan born Art Nouveau Architect
We will create our own mosaic work of art. Approximate length 1-1/2 hours
July 30th at 1:30 pm | Frida Kahlo - Colorful Mexican Surrealist Painter
We will draw and paint our own self portrait in the passionate style of Frida. Approximate length 1-1/2 hours.
August 6 at 1:30 pm | Jean-Michel Basquiat - American Neo-Expressionist Pioneer of Street Art
Using mixed media, we will make our own piece of art emulating his unique style. Approximate length 1-1/2 hours.
August 13 at 1:30 pm | Alma Thomas - American Abstract Expressionist
Using acrylic paint and canvas we will make our own abstract painting emulating Alma's style. Approximate length 1-1/2 hours.
August 20 at 1:30 pm | Frank Gehry - Los Angeles-based Deconstructivist Architect
We will examine the influences that led to his unique style and listen to Frank talk about his evolution through a short video, followed by creating our own architectural rendering. Approximate length 1-1/2 hours.
